MY THOUGHTS

There are times where you have to sit back and take it in.  This is one of those moments.  Could we have the positions for the False Prophet and Antichrist?  Only time will tell, but according to Scripture, we may have that very setup.  The Bible talks about an individual that is from the old Roman Empire (Daniel 9:26-27) that will lead Israel into the most severe persecution in its history.  This individual, the Antichrist, has a sidekick that has lesser power, but is almost as important as he.  This duo will turn not only against Israel, but all God's people and persecute anyone who believes in Jesus Christ.  Interestingly enough, the current foreign policy chief is very instrumental in the peace process and is the author of the reconfirmation of the Barcelona Process called the European Neighborhood Policy.  I am going to get this article in one of my documents.  It is that important.

SCRIPTURE

Revelation 12:17

"And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.^[b]"

Note:  The dragon is Satan, but he will work his will through the Antichrist and False Prophet.

Daniel 9:26-27

  26 " And after the sixty-two weeks
      Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
      And the people of the prince who is to come
      Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
      The end of it shall be with a flood,
      And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
       27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
      But in the middle of the week
      He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
      And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
      Even until the consummation, which is determined,
      Is poured out on the desolate."

Note:  The bold prince who is to come was Roman (70 A.D.), and this same type of prince (from old Roman Empire, which will be the revised Roman Empire in the last days) will be from Europe.

The treaty creates an EU president and a more powerful foreign policy chief.

The document, signed at a ceremony at the city's historic Jeronimos Monastery, also scraps veto powers in many policy areas.

It is a replacement for the EU constitution, which was abandoned following French and Dutch opposition.

EU leaders insist that the two texts are in no way equivalent.

But the Lisbon treaty incorporates some of the draft constitution's key reforms, and several governments face domestic pressure over the document.

In a speech before the signing, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso called on European leaders to use the treaty to make freedom, prosperity and solidarity an everyday reality for all European citizens.

"From this old continent, a new Europe is born," he said.

WHAT I KNOW

*The games have begun for a peace agreement.

*President Bush will take a prominent role in the negotiations in January.

WHAT I DON'T KNOW

*How successful will the talks be?  Will we actually see an agreement before the end of 2008?

MY THOUGHTS

It seems like the negotiating teams are going to start where they left off seven years ago with Camp David.  I have posted the article about the Camp David agreements and disagreements under Bro. Brian's Commentary tag.  There seems to be an urgency not felt for a long time.  The world is heading fast toward a cataclysmic encounter with its Creator.  

The negotiations are going to be furious in the next few weeks.  The Moscow Peace Summit is tentatively scheduled for April, and the parties want to get as much done as possible before then.  I don't think that a deal will be signed at that summit.  I don't have any confirmation, but I am assuming there might be a third and final peace summit, and it may take place in the EU.  Again, that is my thoughts, and nothing else.  We will see if I am right.  As of right now, we have the Israelis and Palestinians starting where they left off seven years ago, and they are trying to bridge the gap concerning the very difficult issues.

I believe the diplomatic activity before President Bush arrives will entail a lot of Tony Blair.  He is the spokesman for the Quartet.  I wonder if he might become the spokesman for someone else, like the future Antichrist.  Tony Blair wants to become the next EU president, but from what I read the power in Europe will be the new EU foreign minister post.  At this time that post is controlled by Javier Solana.  Will these two posts produce the False Prophet and Antichrist respectively?  Maybe.  Whoever fulfills these posts in the future may be the two infamous characters in the end times drama we will witness.  Or are we witnessing the end times drama now?  It seems the negotiating games have begun, don't they?

"And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men."

Negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, led by
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and PA negotiator Ahmed Qureia, were renewed
Wednesday in a very tense atmosphere.

The talks were renewed after a seven-year hiatus following the failure of Camp David, the Taba talks and the fall of the Barak government.
