THE PAST
This newsletter looks at 2009, and the trends for 2010. The year 2009 can be called the year that ?globalism' reached its success after over 50 years of building. Next year may be the implementation of globalization. As the prophets said long ago, there will come a time where the spirit of Babel will thrive in our world and churches, and how we as believers handle it will determine our own eternal destination.
The Obama Administration has brought the European view of globalization into reality through the Copenhagen Summit, G-20 Summits, Middle East peace process, the health care debate, and the antagonistic attitude toward the main enemy of globalization, which is the Judeo-Christian ethic. It is as if the image of the beast of the European Union is being made alive before our very eyes. It is believers in the Jewish and Christian tradition that is the main opposition to Satan's globalization. Satan is the great imitator, and he wants to imitate Christ's Kingdom on earth that Revelation 20 speaks of in His 1,000 year reign. The truth is that Satan's great experiment will be successful, but will only last 3 ½ years, which is the last 3 ½ years of the 70th week of Daniel.
Israel has found itself against world opinion to such a great extent that their very survival is at risk. We know that Israel will never again be dispersed from her land, but she will be persecuted so much that for the last 3 ½ years of the 70th week many Jews will flee for their lives, and God will supernaturally protect them. This past year shows that the hatred of the Jews is as strong as ever.
Lastly, the deception that is going through Christendom is disheartening, but we know this must happen. It is the deception that will lead many to falsely believe they are doing God's will, when they really are doing their own will, and that self-belief will deny them the salvation from Christ because they refuse to deny themselves and come to Him as a child. The year of 2009 shows that all of the above has greatly increased in the last 12 months.
THE FUTURE
The trends for 2010 will continue the escalation of Bible prophecy. I believe one event will speed up the prophecy considerably and that is the Israel/Iran situation. Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syrian factor is also one foreign policy issue to watch. I suspect that something will have to happen soon because the virulent talk between Israel and Iran are crossing some very important red lines. The future of the Middle East is bleak, and for much of history it has been bleak, but the difference is that within a matter of months Iran will have nuclear capabilities, if not almost there already, and the geopolitical climate is nothing it has ever been before.
Also, the economic turmoil in the world will not get better in the long term. We may see short term shoots, but in the long run I foresee a very long drudge through recovery. If war happens in the Middle East, then the economic situation will be very bad. I am not one who celebrates the troubled world because there are so many not saved. However, I do not want to sensationalize the events even though I believe there are very hard days ahead. According to Revelation 6, after a horrific world war, hyperinflation happens world-wide. We have events today that can fulfill that Scripture more than ever before.
Lastly, the European Union (EU) has decided on its first president and foreign policy chief; however, the important rotating presidency is still strong, so the EU has three individuals that are promoting the EU abroad. I am not afraid to admit the EU is demonic in its core. The people are not, but the EU itself is, and the demonic forces in this world are operating not only in the EU, but the other capitals in this world to fulfill Satan's goal in bringing this world together under his leadership. It is difficult to predict what will happen in the EU, but don't be surprised the Spanish rotating presidency tries to upstage the EU president and foreign policy chief. Javier Solana, the former EU Foreign Policy Chief, is being asked to delve into Spanish and European security at a time that Spain is the president of the EU and the Western European Union (WEU), which is the military core of the EU. Keep in touch in January as some very important EU meetings will be taking place.
MY THOUGHTS
I want to share a few final thoughts. The world has changed a lot since September 2008. The United States has a President that is hostile to the Judeo-Christian ethic, and the EU is becoming a much more of a major player in world affairs. Solana is still in the picture, who is a man many prophecy watchers have followed over the years, and Israel's relationships with the nations of the world is very hostile.
If this time of the end is near, then expect these things to happen in the New Year. First, Solana will come back from the brink of retirement for Middle East security reasons. Second, look for a Middle Eastern war involving Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria, and possibly Iran verses Israel. Third, look for a strong successful desire to rebuild the Jewish Temple in the form of the Temple itself or synagogue on the Temple Mount. Fourth, the moral compass of the local church will continue to be lukewarm at best, and will get worse.
Until next time, remember God is always in control.

SCRIPTURE
Daniel 7:7-14
Fourth Kingdom (European Union?my words)
"After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a (I)fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had (J)ten horns.
8"While I was contemplating the horns, behold, (K)another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and (L)a mouth uttering great boasts.
The Ancient of Days Reigns
9"I kept looking
Until (M)thrones were set up,
And the Ancient of Days took His seat;
His (N)vesture was like white snow
And the (O)hair of His head like pure wool
His (P)throne was ablaze with flames,
Its (Q)wheels were a burning fire.
10"A river of (R)fire was flowing
And coming out from before Him;
(S)Thousands upon thousands were attending Him,
And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him;
The (T)court sat,
And (U)the books were opened.
11"Then I kept looking because of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking; I kept looking until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to the (V)burning fire.
12"As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but an extension of life was granted to them for an appointed period of time.
The Son of Man Presented
13"I kept looking in the night visions,
And behold, with the clouds of heaven
One like a (W)Son of Man was coming,
And He came up to the Ancient of Days
And was presented before Him.
14"And to Him was given (X)dominion,
Glory and (Y)a kingdom,
(Z)That all the peoples, nations and men of every language
Might serve Him
(AA)His dominion is an everlasting dominion
Which will not pass away;
(AB)And His kingdom is one
Which will not be destroyed."

2009 was the year in which "global" swept the rest of the political lexicon into obscurity. There were "global crises" and "global challenges", the only possible resolution to which lay in "global solutions" necessitating "global agreements". Gordon Brown actually suggested something called a "global alliance" in response to climate change. (Would this be an alliance against the Axis of Extra-Terrestrials?)
BREAK
The word "global" has taken on sacred connotations. Any action taken in its name must be inherently virtuous, whereas the decisions of individual countries are necessarily "narrow" and self-serving. (Never mind that a "global agreement" will almost certainly be disproportionately influenced by the most powerful nations.) Nor is our era so utterly unlike previous ones, for all its technological sophistication. We have always needed multilateral agreements, whether about trade, organised crime, border controls, or mutual defence.
If the impact of our behaviour on humanity at large is much greater or more rapid than ever before then we shall have to find ways of dealing with that which do not involve sacrificing the most enlightened form of government ever devised. There is a whiff of totalitarianism about this new theology, in which the risks are described in such cosmic terms that everything else must give way. "Globalism" is another form of the internationalism that has been a core belief of the Left: a commitment to class rather than country seemed an admirable antidote to the "blood and soil" nationalism that gave rise to fascism.
The nation-state has never quite recovered from the bad name it acquired in the last century as the progenitor of world war. But if it is to be relegated to the dustbin of history then we had better come up with new mechanisms for allowing people to have a say in how they are governed. Maybe that could be next year's global challenge. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/janetdaley/6845967/Therell-be-nowhere-to-run-from-the-new-world-government.html
ANOTHER NEWS LINK
The Prime Minister will say: "Never again should we face the deadlock that threatened to pull down those talks. Never again should we let a global deal to move towards a greener future be held to ransom by only a handful of countries. One of the frustrations for me was the lack of a global body with the sole responsibility for environmental stewardship.
"I believe that in 2010 we will need to look at reforming our international institutions to meet the common challenges we face as a global community." The summit failed to produce a political agreement among all the countries. Delegates instead passed a motion on Saturday "taking note" of an accord drawn up the night before by five countries: the US, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
