MY THOUGHTS
This is the weirdest retiring that I have ever seen. For somebody who is retiring, he is no lame duck. A lame duck is a person who has an elected office that does little to nothing in the last months/days he is in office. Solana is busier than he has ever been. Of course he is not elected, and he does not have to go if he does not want to.
Solana is watching the Temple Mount closely. How close is he watching it? There are reports that Israel is digging underneath the Temple Mount, and for what? Solana is interested in the Temple Mount because it is everything. The Temple Mount, once where each of the two Jewish Temples once stood, is the key to Middle East peace, world peace, and stopping world economic and military Armageddon. God is bringing the players closer to Jerusalem every day. One day a man will come and declare that he has total control over Israel, the Middle East, and the world which the Bible calls the Abomination of Desolation.
The world lambasts the extremist Jews, which are the settlers and orthodox Jews, evangelical Christians, all the while accepts Muslim extremism as religious hissy fits that are not harmful to the world. If this is the time, then we are seeing the beginning march toward Jerusalem for the Abomination of Desolation.
The last two articles suggest that the Israeli government is planning on building a synagogue on the Temple Mount. Even though a synagogue is not the Temple in a Solomon or Herod sense, it is significant because it is a type of Temple. You can find articles dating back a few years where Israel was interested in building a synagogue on the Temple Mount (do a Google). Where this is interesting, is that within a synagogue you have a type of Ark of the Covenant and a Holy of Holies. If the synagogue is placed on the Temple Mount and Israel is making preparations for it now, then could we have a 'rebuilt Temple', but not in a traditional sense? Could we actually have a synagogue (type of Temple) on the mount soon, and could the preparations be starting now. If we do, then we have a man in Europe, Solana, that has confirmed a treaty, ENP, and he is watching developments with a keen eye on a possible synagogue (type of Temple) being prepared for the Temple Mount. My goodness, time will tell, but we cannot ignore the possibilities.

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana expressed concern Wednesday over "recent clashes in east Jerusalem."
In a statement, he called for restraint, saying, "I have been closely following the situation around the Al Aksa mosque in recent days. I would like to urge all parties to refrain from provocative actions that could further inflame tensions or lead to violence."
"Everyone must take action to avoid escalation," he added.

Speaking to Army Radio, Zahalka asserted that recent conspiracy theories may not be unfounded, speculating that Israel was possibly "planning to build a synagogue" on the Temple Mount. He explained that while Al Aksa Mosque had stood on the Temple Mount for 1,400 years, Israeli excavations underneath it could endanger several Old City mosques "in the event of an earthquake."

All synagogues contain a Torah Ark, a table from which the Torah is read, and a desk for the prayer leader.
The Torah Ark, (Hebrew: Aron Kodesh?ארון קודש) (called the heikhal?היכל [temple] by Sephardim) is a cabinet in which the Torah scrolls are kept.
The ark in a synagogue is positioned in almost always such a way that those who face it, face towards Jerusalem. Thus, sanctuary seating plans in the Western world generally face east, while those east of Israel face west. Sanctuaries in Israel face towards Jerusalem. Occasionally synagogues face other directions for structural reasons; in such cases, some individuals might turn to face Jerusalem when standing for prayers, but the congregation as a whole does not.
The ark is reminiscent of the Ark of the Covenant which contained the tablets with Ten Commandments. This is the holiest spot in a synagogue, equivalent to the Holy of Holies. The ark is often closed with an ornate curtain, the parochet פרוכת, which hangs outside or inside the ark doors.

WHAT I KNOW
*There will come a time when two witnesses will preach in the Old City of Jerusalem at the Temple Mount complex, and they will be considered extremist Jews.

*Is the situation in the world leading us to see these witnesses very soon?
MY THOUGHTS
We are going to try to interpret Revelation chapter 11 in light of the current events before us. Many of you that follow this site and other sites know that there is a possibility we may be in the 70th week of Daniel, and according to your interpretation of the start of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and its funding Instrument (ENPI), the possible midpoint will be March 30, 2010 or June 14, 2010 by my calculations. Let's step outside the box and state what will happen if this is the time period we are talking about.
First, the Jewish settlers will continue to be ostracized by the world to such an extent that they will be blamed for the total breakdown of the peace process. There will not be a peace treaty enacted, but a continued deterioration of the Middle East. The United States and the European Union will continue to pressure Israel to find a solution to the perceive problem in Jerusalem, especially the Temple Mount. The Muslim leaders are making the Temple Mount an issue at just the right time if this is the time period. Eventually, the Antichrist will walk into Jerusalem to put down incitement by the Jews (even though the Muslims are the ones) which will lead to the Abomination of Desolation. It is at this time the two witnesses will come upon the scene at the same time the Antichrist comes into Jerusalem. It may be that the Antichrist comes in to declare that he will control the violence in Jerusalem and Temple Mount, and shortly after he leaves the compound the two witnesses show up. Just my two cents. . .
Second, the war of words will continue to escalate between Iran and Israel to a point that there will be a conflict. Whether the Gog/Magog War will happen before, during, or after the midpoint remains to be seen. I know Scripture says it takes 7 years to burn the weaponry, and if this is it, then there is only a little more than 3 ½ years left. There is another 1,000 years called the Millennium Kingdom and maybe God has the Jews burning into the Millennium as a reminder or something. Our way of thinking is much different than God's in a lot of ways. Anyway, look for Russia, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Turkey, and the Arab nations to continue their increased hostility toward Israel, which will eventually lead to the Gog/Magog War.
Daniel 11:35?12:3 speaks of the events prior and during the midpoint of the 70th week of Daniel. There are scenarios that point to a struggle between Israel's southern and northern neighbors. Whether this is Hamas (southern neighbors) and Hizbullah (northern neighbors) remains to be seen. But I suspect that Hamas and Hizbullah will pressure Israel with rockets and incursions as things begin to heat up in the Middle East. If this is it, then the Rapture will happen after the Great Tribulation, which starts at the midpoint of the 70th week, which means if the ENPI is the prophesied treaty, which started Oct. 17th 2006 or Jan. 1st 2007 depending on your interpretation, then we will be out of here in a couple of years immediately after the Great Tribulation ends and the Day of the Lord begins to usher in the Coming of Christ in 2013. Date setting?maybe harmful, maybe not? Just my thoughts for what they are worth. These thoughts are on exhaustive study of the Bible and world events. My life is not shattered if the ENPI is not it, but it is the only game in town at the moment so if it is the prophesied treaty of Daniel, then these events are what I am looking for.

According to Braverman, the current dispute may ignite not only the Middle East, but the entire world. The minister said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government "must realize that if we don't provide the Arab sector with the resources it is entitled to, we will be pushing them (Israeli Arabs) into the arms of radical Islam."
